The Val d’Azun which is a wide valley facing west/east, enjoys an exceptionally sunny weather. It is an Eden in the Pyrénées. You will discover a preserved nature, come across small typical villages, barns and stone mills with slated roofs.

On the campsite

  • Outdoor and indoor activities on the spot- children’s play area, table tennis to unwind swing , slide, board games, pétanque area, volley-ball, badminton, football, TV and our common room: “the refuge? with a library, a tv, internet, board games, wood games,…
  • Birds observation, AZUN NATURE campsite is a LPO refuge, it means that it is a refuge for birds in collaboration with the French Society for the Protection of Birds. We will be able to provide you with high-technology observation tools for children and adults, as well as guides and specific documents.
  • Bird discovering activities , departure from the campsite (free activity) and ornithological walks, fauna and flora , july and august.
  • Paragliding : several paragliding schools organize first flight and flights above Aucun village and our campsite. The weather conditions are good, the valley is wide and the landscapes imposing… The landing runway is about a few metres from Azun Nature.

Starting from Azun Nature…

  • Hiking, Climbing : For the young and adults, with or without a guide, there are some hikes straight from your accomodation. From spring to winter you will discover the Pyrénées throughout the year. You have access to the National Park, the GR 10 and the Tour du val d’Azun. Val d’Azun is a Great Hiking Site. You’ll find all documentation at the campsite (maps of the area, topographic books, coordinates GPS …) and at the Tourism Office of Val d’Azun, tél. 06 95 20 30 03
  • Cycling and Mountain bike: The Val d’Azun has always welcomed the Tour de France and contributed to the fame of the col d’ Aubisque, col du Soulor, and Col du Tourmalet.They are appreciated by cycling enthusiats from the beginning of summertime. This year, the 8th stage of the Tour de France will take place on the 9th july for the PAU-LUCHON.
  • The mountain bike center is accredited French Cycling Federation (FFC).There are 210 kilometres of marked trails. It is possible to rent bikes and be accompagnied. Hiring bicycle, Electric bicycle and fatbike at Col de Couraduque
  • Horse riding : Équitation : horse rides and hikes : 2 hours, one day or several days, for the novices or the initiated ones.
  • Fishing : several mountain lakes, two of which - Barrage du Tech and Lac d’Estaing - and river – Gave d’Azun to fish trout . In some villages there are fishing trails for children. House of fishing : Maison du Val d’Azun, offers you all the information for the practice of fishing.
  • Swimming-pool in the village of Arrens-Marsous, opened in July and august at only 5 minutes (specials rates for the campsite).
  • Cross Country Skiing : « Espace Nordique du Val d'Azun » at 10 minutes of Azun Nature, at the Col of Couraduque and Col du Soulor, 100 km of prepared tracks, walkers and snow shoers. Renting and restaurant on the spot, www.valdazun.com
  • Ski resorts, you can also enjoy Alpine skiing in other ski resorts in the vicinity Cauterets (30 mn), Hautacam (40 mn), Luz-Ardiden, Barèges-La Mongie (45 mn), Gavarnie (1 h)

Near the National Park…

You will be able to discover many lakes (only 15 minutes by car) , exceptional fauna and flora thanks to the closeness of the National Park. Experienced hikers will be satisfied since the Balaïtous, which is the highest peak of this area, is formed on its glacier and stands at an altitude of 3144m at the rear of the valley.

At 10 minutes … in the Vallées de Gavarnie

  • White-water: on Pau’s mountain stream you can practise rafting, kayak,…numerous professionals will help you in the Vallée des Gaves
  • Forest acrobatic park: Chlorofil : zipline, monkey bridge, bridge deck, …

  • Well-being, there are many balneotherapy centers in the Vallée des Gaves, such as the Jardin des Bains in Argelès – Gazost…. Les Bains du Rocher at Cauterets … Luzéa at Luz Saint Sauveur … Cielo at Baréges…

Dans ce patrimoine naturel remarquable, nous vous invitons à découvrir une montagne vivante, avec ses 10 petits villages.
  • Découverte du patrimoine et de la culture locale, avec ses églises et chapelle... , découverte du petit patrimoine paysan : granges foraines, moulins, leytés… que vous parcourez au fil de sentiers thématiques dans les villages : sentier de la Pierre à Arras-en-Lavedan, sentier de découverte du village d'Aucun, sentier des Moulins à Arcizans-Dessus, sentier des mines à Ferrières…
